POETRY COMPETITION

Congratualtions to Joshua Meyer, 6H for writing the winning poem in the library competition to write a poem on an environmental theme. Runners-up were Aman Patel, Rosalind Beckett and Alexandra Coughlan. Well done to everyone who entered.

I saw a Jolly Planet by Joshua Meyer
(with apologies to Charles Causley)

I saw a jolly planet,
colours green and blue,
full of stupid pollution,
now it's up to you.

Make the right decision,
before it's too jolly late,
or you will be destined
to a jolly evil fate.

BANG! goes the jolly earth
exploding into space,
animals, land and jolly sea
and the human race!

BANG! goes my sister,
my mum, my dad and me
BANG! goes our village,
our town and our city.

The whole wide world
ungratefully spent and gone
why did we continue to turn
our jolly old car engines on?
