GERALDINE McCAUGHREAN VISITS
The award winning author, Geraldine McCaughrean visited Pinewood on Monday 15th January to talk to years 6,7 and 8. Geraldine is the author of over 130 books for children. She talked about her recently published sequel to J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan, Peter Pan in Scarlet. Geraldine won a competition to write the official sequel, commissioned by Great Ormond Street Hospital who had the rights to the original book. Geraldine submitted a first chapter and outline of the plot and was chosen from 200 other applicants to write the sequel. She talked about some of her other books, including The White Darkness and Stop the Train. It was a very interesting and inspirational morning, enjoyed by everyone.
PHILIPPA PEARCE
The author of modern classics such as Tom's Midnight Garden and A Dog So Small has died at the age of 82. Philippa was the youngest of four children and spent an idyllic childhood playing around the family mill house on the upper reaches of the River Cam. Her book, Minnow on the Say was inspired by these childhood memories. She wrote over thirty books in all, her most famous book, Tom's Midnight Garden won the Carnegie Medal. She had a daughter, sally and The Battle of Bubble and Squeak was inspired by her daughter's gerbils.

HARRY POTTER BOOK 7
J.K. Rowling has revealed the title for the 7th and final book. The name of the book is:
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
J.K. Rowling has said there will be more deaths in this book. She has also said there will be a wedding and we will learn more about Harry's parents, James and Lily.
I want to know if Snape turns out to be 'good' after all and if Dumbledore is really dead! There is no date for publication yet but let's hope it isn't too long!
