Bridge to Terabithia is about two lonely children who create a magical forest kingdom. Written by Katherine Paterson, it was first published in 1977, and won the, American prize for outstanding children's literature, the Newbery Medal in 1978. It tells the story of fifth grader Jesse Aarons, who befriends new girl Leslie Burke when he loses a race to her. A film of the book has just been made by Disney.
